This is cool and ok for Luke, but Luke pulling out a lightsaber for 2 seconds on Kylo in the last jedi is apparently not his character

I would have love too see luke tap more into the force including the dark side and use both against Vader and empire strikes back it would have shown more of Luke's raw power in the force

Catching up…. missed a few days. It really cool to hear the different scenarios they were looking at but to be honest, “EMPIRE” is one of my favorites and i love it just the way it is! Good vid SWT

What if anakin never took 3cpo back in episode 2 3cpo never told Luke about r2 so Luke would still be a farm boy

I like how Luke chose not to use the dark side. Perfect ending very in touch with his character

When I first watched Retunr of The Jedi I was shocked. Palpatine pointed his hands at Luke, and suddenly lightning bolts started coming out! That completely shocked me!!!

I feel like force lightning is supposed to be something that requires special sith training to use. It would devalue the lightning's power by having a jedi trainee just able to use it. I also think it works better as a surprise in Return, showing off that even though Luke beat Vader, there is still much about the force for him to learn.

But how could Luke force lightning without practise? I think its also important to get hit by force lightning before being able to release them

I’m actually satisfied with what we got in the original trilogy. I think Luke using Force lightning in ESB would be out of left field for a lot of people. Luke does have a very natural progression of his character arc throughout Episodes 4, 5 and 6 when you look at all three of them in context. In ANH, Luke knows very little about the Force and how to use it. In ESB, Luke knows enough about the Jedi through his training from Obi-Wan and Yoda to hold his own in a decent fight, but Vader clearly has much more experience. In those early shots of the fight scene, Vader is actually dueling Luke with one hand. I’d like to think that was done deliberately. Luke and Vader are much more evenly matched in ROTJ due to Luke completing his training and the passage of time. Now, Vader obviously can’t use Force lightning because he could electrocute the suit that’s keeping him alive in the process. For me, the Emperor using Force lightning is a great place to introduce it, because it keeps him interesting as a character, and Sidious is supposed to be more powerful than his apprentice. Plus, you can’t ignore the absolute cultural impact of Luke’s horror at finding out that Darth Vader, the public enemy number one of the galaxy, is his father.

There would have been no significance. We would just think lightning is a light side power (it is blue). We would have needed to see palatine use it first. It would be kind of cool to see an older Luke using force judgement in one of the new shows though. Do it. Unlimited Power. I have the High Ground (yes it's a proper noun). Because of Obi Wan (nobody bothers reading anything if it doesn't quote ROTS).
