My Thoughts on SpongeBob Episode Mid-Life Crustacean being Banned.
You know, there are other Spongebob episodes that are worthy to remove like The Splinter, One One Coarse Meal, or when Spongebob fell in love with a Krabby Patty.
A few days ago, a Nickelodeon Rep told IGN that they’re pulling two episodes of Spongebob from circulation, that means no reruns, no streaming access, or future physical media sales. These episodes are Mid-Life Crusacean and kwarantined krab, I want to focus on the latter.
Mid-Life Crusacean is a very memorable episode that focuses on Mr. Krabs having a mid-life crisis and feeling old and wants to feel young again by having a boys’ night with Spongebob and Patrick which doesn’t turn out as he expects. The controversy surrounding this episode is towards the end when SpongeBob, Patrick, and Mr. Krabs break into a woman’s house for a panty raid. I admit, Id always felt that moment was out of character for SpongeBob and Patrick, particularly during the 1-3 season era of Spongebob before they started dumbing it down. But then again, Panty Raids are something teenage boys would do. I thought the plot twist was funny when Mr. Krabs’ mom comes out and sends him to his room and feels young again.
Going back to when IGN asked Nickelodeon why the decision to ban the episode, they said no comment and that the storyline was not Kid-Appropriate…Then why the FUCK they you gave them approval in the first place? Its understandable that most cartoons contain adult jokes for the parents to either enjoy or complain. Geez, Nickelodeon you might as well ban all the darker episodes of Avatar The Last Airbender that are not kid appropriate.
This episode is not even worthy to ban? You can’t rewrite history, so there no reason to remove this episode. Sure, I’m a guy, I can’t speak for women who feel like they’re privacy is violated for this kind. Here’s a personal annotated, my older sister would tell me when my Mom’s boyfriend would steal her pantties from the dryer machine, yes he is one perverted motherfucker!
There’s not a lot of justiciable motive for this episode to be removed, were always going to talk about it. Spongebob has had an enduring legacy that can ever die.
