Robin Shou as Liu Kang literally broke his ribs for the Mortal Kombat movies and this guy Simu Liu is gonna completely disregard him like that? The utter disrespect.

Nobody yet has mentioned Sho Kosugi in any comments I have seen. Enter The Ninja, Revenge Of The Ninja, Pray For Death, The Master TV show, I grew up on Sho back in the 80s… he looked fairly Asian to me… 🇯🇵

What's next? Is Angelina Jolie going to promote Eternals by talking about how oppressed she was trying to get work when she was a beautiful young white w0man and daughter of a famous actor?

Tried to defend his words but the more he says the more he's a nincompoop should have kept his mouth shut we would have still thought he was half intelligent…

The problem isn’t about Asian representation, the problem is Shang Chi was a boring character all the way around.

It’s nothing new even if it’s a decent action movie.

If they want a good Asian main character that’s interesting, they should first of all find an actor that’s extremely charismatic and anti-PC.

People get inspired by memorable characters regardless of their race. So find an Asian lead who’d play a memorable roll. Not some Eastern warrior mystic that’s been done like hundreds of times it’s a stereotype. Actually break new ground.

Honestly, Amadeus Cho would have been a better pick for an Asian lead over Shang chi if they were faithful to the source material before he became hulk (which was horrible), I remember him and Hercules going to the Amazon’s and all the hilarious antics that went with it.

Jackie Chan is a highly respected legend. Bruce Lee changed our entire culture. The entire martial arts boom that started in the 1970s was thanks in large part to Bruce Lee alone. When I was growing up, every Saturday morning there were Kung Fu movies on TV. Without Bruce Lee, that wouldn't have happened. He mentions "behind the camera as well". What about James Wan? What about Hayao Miyazaki? Spirited Away was one of the most brilliant films I've ever seen. Miyazaki is hugely influential. (Not to mention Gong Li, Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Q, Chloe Zhao, and Lucy Liu) This Simu Liu guy is a complete and total ass hat.

How do you get NPC's attention – easy its just like dangling a shiny object in front of a cat.

Why should we give the movie shang chi a chance? The character isn't well known and hollywood keep dumping on the fans and trying to rewrite history. Both fictional and real life history so as far as i'm concerned hollywood can get f'd.

Instead, Watch: The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (English Dub is better than the original IMO, which is normally not the case in most films). Cant beat this Gordon Liu, Shaw Bros. classic. It gives a peek into the training of an ancient Shaolin monk.. and has many positive lessons shown, as the character learns, and develops. It will be 1000x a better use of your time than "Woke Rings".

Chow Yun Fat in Shang Hai Tan(idk if the series has an english name or not) is so popular that the show theme song is taught in my Chinese/Cantonese class. And the series came out a decade before I was even born. I can still sing that song.
Stephen Chow is very popular too.
So yea, we Asians do have our heroes. We don't need American to make one for us.

*Simu Lu sidelines Asians*
Simu Lu: Asians are an underrepresented minority in movies, I should know because I am the first Asian in existence, so……

Another day, another leftist ignoring history.

He’s not saying that there’s never been an Asian movie star, the same way that Scarlett Johansson wasn’t saying that there’s never been a female movie star. You’re just intentionally taking their words out of context. Yes, we’ve had Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. As far as big, blockbuster superhero movies go though, there’s never really been an Asian lead.

Why the hell is Awkafina in all these movies and shows lately? She's obnoxious. Whatever happened to classy and beautiful actresses like Lucy Liu and Zhang Ziyi???

if something like black panther had come out when i was a kid, no one would have said boo about it and just saw it or not based on word of mouth. you'd think that history and cinema began in 2008.

You could even go to Daniel Wu in Into the Badlands, he was a lead on a tv show, he was a great lead too. So many actors to choose from, this Disney star is an idiot
