The book is great! Read it last night. Definitely a good pair (Antidote to Chaos and Beyond Order) I’d recommend to anyone interested in their well-being and potential. So wonderful to see him speaking again!

Have not read the book but the last one was well worth the read. Order and chaos are the books of our existence particularly in the political world of today.

I think the productivity junkies who tend to impose paranoid levels of control over their life, with the mindset that 'order' cannot degenrate, need to learn something from this video.

I have always liked a bit of chaos and ambiguity but have thought (secretly) that was a part of my shadow, my monster. This short discussion is bracing and very gratifying!

And what are we to do with those who seek power to persecute? Are we to show love by punishing them? Seems relevant given what is going on with those who lead our society here in the west at the moment. Sometimes love means destroying evil. Especially when it is evil holding power over the people. Using their need for leadership against their better interests…

If you had all the power in the world, would you work for the benefit of the people or work for the benefit of yourself?

The more power you have, the greater temptation you have to work for yourself. This is why you need balance.

Get educated beyond the confines of your temperament.

I don’t know if Jordan Peterson can talk for more than 2-3 minutes without a quotable nugget emerging.

"Regardless of your political temperament, you need to see these forces — you need to see the value in these forces, and have some respect for them. I think what happens if you get educated, hopefully, is that you get educated beyond the confines of your temperament."

This explains why my favorite moments of the past two years was Glenn Beck interviewing Tim Pool and having a great conversation, along with Andrew Yang and Ben Shapiro having a great conversation. They disagree with each other, but they recognize and respect the conceptual forces that the opposition represents.

I have high openness 80th percentile AND high conscientiousness 76 percentile (higher than the average in the group). I am both liberal and conservative and I don’t camp out in either place I base my decisions on evidence, observations and historical and current context. I look at the candidate individually. I was more liberal before I had children. Having little ones in your care makes us very concerned with appropriate boundaries of others around them. We all want to belong but I am firmly camped in the group of “human being” the rest is negotiable. Rob Bell was very controversial when his book “Love Wins” came off the presses. He still is because legalistic Christian’s can’t handle the commandment of love because it’s too hard. Jesus told the Pharisees the same, it’s just too hard to remain in love. Because it puts the responsibility of behaviour back on us as believers or as humans. We have to stop pointing fingers at others. I suspect it will never change but it certainly draws the line of distinction. I think Rob was ahead of his time. I haven’t read all of his material so don’t make reference points to things he said but love does win. That I know for a fact. Wishing bad on enemies robs us of our own life. My Grandmother always said “if you have nothing good to say to add to a conversation, keep your mouth shut.” It’s a family motto. So I do. Revenge and bitterness are open doors to hell on earth. People can enter if they want to, nobody will stop them but don’t complain when I don’t want to tag along. I have a good life to live the best is ahead.

Humans have a habit of getting "used" to things.

Those who rule, get used to ruling. Those who get ruled, get used to being ruled.

This jumped out at the end. “I think what happens if you get educated, hopefully, is that you get educated beyond your temperament.”
Very clear statement, yet leads to many questions. The exact opposite of a thought terminating cliche.
