I know what I'd do if I were a publisher of DC comics (not going to tell, because who wants to hear a guy on the Internet, but it includes things people hate, like back-up stories, anthologies, and printing every two months as well as getting good stories, having a year ready to print before soliciting, and a way for trade paperbacks to compete with Manga), but whatever happens, it needs to return to a professional business model and people with talent who actually love the characters.

Well after the announcement today I won't be surprised if DC has something similar up their sleeve since they tend to be playing catch up with Marvel most of the time. Of course it's ironic they did something similar and got blow torched for it last year. Kind of hypocritical for those same people in the industry turn around and sing the praises for Marvel.

this is kind of…well doesn't seem fair when they get everything … while you pay (whoevers buying DC) to publish….esp winning stories.
althou you cam use it as a platform to introduce your characters with DC's slowly off the mainstage.

I love Robert Kirkman, I'll be so happy if the man behind The Walking Dead helps DC.

I’d hate to sound like an asshole, but if I took over DC Comics, a lot of people would be getting fired. I think everyone knows what kind of people I’m talking about.

It's possible things will play out this way, but I learned a long time ago that it's impossible to predict the future. I have a source of sorts that has told me that the big businesses that own DC and Marvel are pretty open minded with the future of the industry. Without a certain degree of nostalgia being involved at the upper levels the giant experiment that was the cinematic universes never would have happened to begin with.

Right now from what I was hearing from admittedly sources I can't entirely verify, both Disney and WB have noticed the massive domination of manga and how profitable it has been, with some popular manga series allegedly outselling pretty much the entire US comics industry. Nostalgia aside, they would love to have a publishing arm on that level along with the rest of what they are doing, and they see the potential for comics to do it. Selling out their entire publishing departments here would be a long term blow by forcing them to re-build from scratch.

A lot of the problems from there apparently get political, as you have factions within both Disney and WB who only want to see publishing take of if it's done "the right way" from a social justice perspective, as opposed to doing what Manga does and focusing entirely on story. This has lead to a lot of the drama surrounding comics, writers, and what's good and bad within the industry as it stands now. According to the people I was talking to, the big reason to "sell out" comics would be to do it with an eye towards taking them back fairly quickly, and use the sell out as a way of purging a lot of the people currently entrenched in the industry who have the wrong attitudes from a business perspective. On the other hand a lot of the social justice crowd has sold the idea that comics can never be successful internationally if they are seen as socially unjust. The idea basically being that people in say Europe won't gain an interest in American comics if the comics are seen as being anti-Euro for example, and you can use that general statement and apply it to anything on the "social justice o-meter".

At any rate, the bottom line is that if there is a sell out of the publishing rights, I expect it to be short term, as from what I've been hearing there is both a nostalgia factor at play, and people absolutely slavering at the idea of being able to be what Manga is now, except bigger, and have publishing along with video games, movies, and other things. Maybe it won't be as huge as a series of blockbuster movies, but dominating this niche can be reliable, as everyone knows bubbles burst and eventually comic-book style movies will fall out of favor and need a break for a decade or two before they come back again…. something like comics or manga can keep those IPs alive and thriving even during the downtime.

I doubt many people read this far, but the point is that some people I talk to have reminded me about the potential that is there. It's easy to laugh about how a single Manga series can outsell pretty much the entire US comics industry in a month, but while we're laughing about it there are some people looking at it and saying "I want that too" and that is why comics are likely to survive and remain under a corporate umbrella.

This is garbage news. Warner bros might sell DC Comics but they will NEVER sell the CHARACTERS. The amount of money that batman movies alone would make would cost an absolute fortune for someone to buy the rights to. You add onto that Superman, wonder woman, and all the other DC characters which they are actively trying to make films and content for. This isn't a Fantastic 4 situation. These click bait articles and videos are not worth the time. I know you guys are trying to produce your 4 videos a day or whatever, but come on.

If they sell DC comics does that mean will Warner Bros still own the rights to make the movies or no?

The more layers pulled back and see what mega corps doing. Disney bought up all our culture, strip mining it down to keep what makes money. They want video rights and removing original creators, they dont want to give people royalties.

You think they care about diversity, nah, they want to be able to make any random movie/show staring Spiderman, paying some sucker to write/make something completely new without retaining rights.

You think Marvel makes money using original look and story of Ms. Marvel (assuming the comics could make any money), or getting guppies to do Kamala Khan. Won't have to pay any estates for legacy.

Guys at image were right 30 years ago. Marvel and DC are nothing but shells of what they were, the heart ripped out by Corporations and feminists gladly helped. The new Atari VCS is what they are, might say Atari like beloved systems, but its just a bunch of people who just happen to own name Atari who threw a box together. Compared to Nintendo, the greatness of what they could have been, had Marvel didn't try and replace the originals for greed. Lame ass Riri, Lady Thor, etc.

Stop giving Disney your money.

Wokes will be sweating their ass off and trying to invent some bullshit. Why? because if someone successful who actually knows how its to work will take the reins, then wokes will be the 1st thing it will be purged out of there.

if dc is sold off regardless of who buy's dc they are going to need to do a deep cleaning of dc (and yeet anyone who spends more time on twitter bashing fans than they do on the comic… correction if the dc staffer in question is spending time on twitter bashing the fanbase then they should be thrown to the unemployment line after getting warned once.) also keep a list of people who don't sell yet keep getting rehired and stop rehiring the one responsible for the failure

If it's true? Can it get any worse!? Can you get pass tuned out from the disgusting Woke and no longer a fan due to betrayal!? No it can't!🙄

Worse case scenario, it stays the same crap. But! If it really is being sold to a fan, even if dumb mistakes are made, but! As long as it is made with good attentions for the fans, it will be a 100 times better!🥳

Rich allowance. I couldn't buy all Marvel in the early 1970s on my allowance (about 30 comics at $0.20 each so $6 which is $40 now). Of course that gets you 10 comics now.
