I would love to see another movie in the style of the unicorn. 3d movies are cool but 2d is art.

Who the eff is Tom McFarlane? I can’t believe the sad state of modern journalism.

A lawyer may be necessary when it comes to looking over contracts, but these days, independent creators need agents like they need a third thumb.

Yeah. This is an especially true sentiment for game devs.

EA, Activision, whoever. They need you. You don't need them. Start your own company.

I can't understand why someone isn't literally sweeping up all the people getting laid off for a new studio. You could compete with triple A tomorrow. Unreal can get you there.

2 year tenure is the sweet spot. They tend to be the highest paid of any given role. The longer you stay at a company, the further behind you'll fall compared to peers. Changing companies forces a business to pay market rates while tenured workers will get 2.5% bumps.

Lol, I had a video of "master class" on my other channel where I warned of contracts and wording. Just reconfirming that, thank you.

"Last Unicorn author reclaims rights"

And there was much rejoicing.

1:38 "Tom Mcfarlane net worth 300 million" Take those net worths with a grain of salt. I actually know someone in the music industry and they list that person's net worth as having a net worth of $24 million. They aren't even close. The person's net worth is only a very tiny fraction of that figure and I mean tiny. I don't know who digs these net worths up or were they even get them.

this is why the first thing I did before seeking a publisher was Copyright everything I made and then when I talked to publishers they asked right off the bat if it was copyrighted or not and when I said yes I already have it copyrighted. It made it much easier for me to find the right publisher that I wanted.

You guys are helping me learn the ins and outs of the animation Industry. I’m currently working on a very big Indie animation project, and I’m taking advice from you guys before presenting it to any streaming services. Thank you so much!

If I remember ABC hade ownership and would run it once a year, they did the same with the hobbit, Return of the King, Flight of Dragons.

Lucasfilm acts as a cautionary tale, too. The moral: Never sell your company to Disney. Big Mistake.

6:26 "If you're a creative take a business course" Exactly. Even if you can't stand the subject or just find it boring (which to me it is), do it no matter what.

I think I'll just stick to making my characters and stories for fun, since I'm not interested in trying to get in the industry.

8:29 "Writing credits also include Ralph Bakshi's 1978 animated LOTR" That's where I know Peter Beagle's name from. I don't know anything about the Last Unicorn though sorry to say.

Yeah, something similar happened with KA Applegate and her husband Michael Grant with Animorphs. They had a shitty agent (which somehow they still have?) that basically let Scholastic 99.9% of Animorphs and GONE's rights. I think it was that they needed money quick for personal reasons and did not look at the fine printing, They never had a big success book series, at that time, so they didn't know how much control they could've had.

The Last Unicorn was the story that got me into writing as a kid so this story hits my heart hard.
I'm so happy Peter finally got the rights to his creation back.

Loved The Last Unicorn when I was young, a local TV channel almost showed it every Friday morning for a couple of years, its the perfect mix between whimsical and dark fantasy for kids.

And the theme song, the freaking theme song, I almost tear up whenever I listen to it, it's timeless.

It's disgraceful how Mr. Beagle was treated. Any independent creator (especially in this day and age) should be copyrighting everything. Big media can't be trusted, hates the fans that made them, and has proved that they're more interested in pleasing the insane nitwits on twitter.

This is EXACTLY why I want to self-publish my shit on Amazon. You sell less but end up making more because of better royalties, no agent fees, and being able to own your work and keep making money off of it for years to come.

When the last lion roars
at the last dusty fountain
and the last eagle soars
over the last crumbling mountain
through the shadows of the forest
although she may be old and warn
they will all stare unbelieving
at the Last Unicorn

A better theme song then most Disney movies

wanna hear something weird? I make a comment on a "anti" Star wars video and "someone" (in Youtube's own words) likes it but then disliked it and it's like some ghost. And then sometime later this happens to another comment on a similar video. Almost like there is an algorithm marking comments. It creeps me out. Did anyone else experience this?
