Congress is good at doing the money for the students like putting a carrot 🥕 in front of university students with how you will pay back the intuition back students are suffering from the government what will it do next position to corner the students either they leave the studying under the comprehension to make the U care and down fall the study and do some manual job this country was the pioneers of outer students put the money back in a place where the government wants

It seems like the only ones who has the balls to stand up against the government in Britain is the students, they are always in the front line ready to confront the government, well done to the students.

I deferred from my course just before Christmas after having a breakdown due to inadequate support. I was having panic attacks, struggling to sleep, becoming withdrawn etc. No student should ever feel the way I did and have to defer from their studies because the institution they go to cannot support them. I hope when I restart my second year in September that there will be support in place and it won’t all be online. Furthermore, I have missed out on the majority of my course’s practical element due to lockdowns (had 2 weeks out of 7 within a year and a half). A lot of us students are future key workers (teachers, NHS…) yet we are left without any support and pretty much left to deal with it alone.

Be better to take a gap year. Employers want people with quality education. Not cheap substitutes.

I am an international management student and you have zero idea of what any student is going through.
You say don't pay rent:
Where do we go? Go home? Can't go home, Money is stuck in airlines ticket where they cancel tickets in last hours before departure. The every covid test you need to leave the country costs £120 each time and everytime the flight cancels that money goes vain. For a student to get tested every time they book a flight which cancels is not possible.
If you ask to remain here:
Then you can't find any part time jobs. Students do have some money that parents could help but that money is the fee and not living expenses. The living expenses are handled by students doing a part time. Students do risk their lives to manage their life.
Now come to online classes:
My entire last sem was online and trust me they uploaded previous year lectures recodings and asked us to study from them. I wouldn't say that all the teaching was bad but many were just lazy and couldn't even respond to the queries properly. Many technical issues and the help system was so bad where I literally felt like I should give up. Studying should never make anyone demotivated and these people did it and on top everything they expect us to pay that much is utter obnoxiousness.

Why don't students just go home and leave their accommodations and cancel the contract? There is really no point in waiting this out, the pandemic won't be over for a while… I agree that Unis should lower the fees, but I must say no country has done this yet. I live in southern Europe and the fee's are still the same as pre-lockdown… So it's very unlikely that the money will be refunded or that fee's will be cut sadly, unis want their profits. However, it is the best time to study, if STUDY is what you are in University for, the partying and drinking is over which is why a lot of people are sad. But if you are focused on your goals and objectives you can study regardless, I finished my degree during covid-19 lockdown and had a lot more time to study as well as saved money on transport, food and petrol. So its not all bad, just the fee's should be less and of course online classes are not as easy to understand the info, focus or listen at times, but thats why fees should be lower as the quality of class is lower.

UNITE STUDENTS are robbing private accommodation tenants, we are not allowed to return to our halls and have been told we can only get 50% of 4 weeks rent back, in other words TWO weeks rent back, when we were told to leave in December and won't be allowed to go back till the Easter… make it make sense.

As international students we are demolished by university tuition fees specially on this catastrophic situation. As a result we passing through a unprecedented time ever we had. Since last March 2020 we are attending our program through Remote learning. But, university asking for the full amount of tuition fees. Which is absolutely disgrace and burden for our family in back home. Eventuality now a days less likely to finding a part time job across the UK specially as an international student . So, it’s my sincere request to the university minister and uk government please rescue us and our family by reduce the tuition fees for the 2020/2021 academic year.

The first major bit of news recognition us university students have received since we were being blamed for the state of the pandemic here in the uk…. and they still dont appear to be taking us seriously. The reason for the rent strike was not at all explained properly and there was no mention of the poor teaching quality we are receiving. Although mentioned, the detriment to our mental health was no where near acknowledged enough. This is NOT about money. This is about our FUTURE and our WELL-BEING. Amazing how we are being acknowledged now that money is being withheld – before the media didn’t give a care for us.

Universities are more run like businesses in any case, a refund? going to take some serious effort to claw that out of their grasps.
In any case, its not as if there are any decent jobs in this economy, just inheriting the poor decisions from avarice.

Bravo, parliament gets another well deserved pay rise, what a joke.

Unis Resist Border Controls (URBC) is a national campaign made up of migrant university staff and students seeking to end border controls in UK universities. URBC is looking to speak to international students who have come to the UK on chartered flights organised by their universities during the pandemic. If this is you, get in touch via email: [email protected]gmail.com

Agreed! Yet we know that the government or even the universities would do little to pay back our almost 11K per semester international student fee 😡

Worst thing is, refund or not, employers are realistically not going to recognise 'covid degrees'.
I'm doing just fine learning online, being a mature student is good because you already have high self-motivation.
I think some students are being a bit dramatic, acting like there's a huge difference between learning in a lecture hall… vs. being able to pause, rewind and speed up an online video (or watch and ask questions live), which ultimately has exactly the same content.

Ridiculous. Pathetic. Covid has trapped ill elderly on their own…in care homes and there own homes…l have a family member with bi polar and there is no support from nhs for her due to budget cuts to mental health and shes not alone. These students are drama queens. In other countries kids there age have to go out and work the land just to get basics for family to eat…this lot should be drafted into national service that would give them a reality check and a backbone. My family was poor as my dad died young..l eorked on governments rip off youth training scheme full time hours for just 30 pounds a week..so if u expect me to feel sorry for these selfish moaners l dont.
