Ian doesn't get it at all. Taking Facebook's code is taking their means of production. Preventing Facebook from censoring and labeling what they don't like as misinformation is the correct way to fix the problem. You make EVERYONE play to the same basic standard set of rules. it is called leveling the playing field through rules that everyone can play fairly on.

I think social media companies should be treated like utilities. They're allowed to operate as a monopoly because the nature of what the platform does basically allows for there to be, in the words of the highlander, "only one."

How we handle utilities is we heavily regulate them, and I'd agree with Tim that that's what needs to happen to these companies. Deplatforming and other forms of censorship should really be disallowed barring court order due to a criminal conviction or something like that.

Gotta change your voice every few words when quoting things you don't want people to take out of contexts. That way there is no real way to make it sound like a real quote.

Here's a thought regarding the problem of social media censoring text content (As compared to sharing images, videos or links); would it not be fair to say that any web based social media service that is free and open to the public should lawfully be regarded as the public domain, no different than if someone were standing on a street corner and speaking? If any social media site wants to censor it's members content, it should be a pay service. The example of restaurants or stores being able to remove unruly customers that violate its policies can still be enforced because the customers are there to purchase goods or services. A free website, like FB, should fall under public rule of law, and their User Agreements could be forced to reflect that.

Ian's suggestion that Facebook et al's code, algorithms, etc. should be forcibly open sourced is an excellent one. That way, it freely can be studied forensically and all their manipulation can be exposed.

Wait.. Does the vaccine alter dna or rna? I was under the impression that it did…as a fact… Where can I find credible info on this?

Free and open source code is the only good and safe way forward technologically speaking.

Ian, it’s called oversight. Government does control companies without it being communism. Respect = gone.

Code isn't important. Everywhere I look there's bad ideas, bad code, bad design, bad experience. What separates these platforms from others is (1) success and (2) investment over time.

Many of these "alternative platforms" face challenges unrelated to specifically knowing or understanding how to code. They need the ability to distribute their code at scale. That code needs to run on distributed servers with high reliability and redundancy. They need to attract advertisers and investors. They need bank and merchant accounts just like any other business.

What I think I've seen in the past couple of years is a coordinated effort from big players in the tech industry, through collusion, to stifle these companies and their products from ever achieving the level of success needed to become a true competitor.

So how do you protect people's private interests to share, communicate, and build new things (i.e. Parler) and another entity's private interest to not allow them to do so (i.e. AWS). Why is it a private business like Amazon can allow anyone and everyone to use their cloud computing power to build anything they want to, but also discriminate (without discretion) against anyone they choose to? It's tricky. I don't know the path forward. But I promise you – their code is not fantastic, their code is not what sets them apart, their code is not a factor in their success. Today – access and procurement of computing power and financial services will stifle small business and innovation like you've never seen before. My opinion.

RNA can't modify your DNA, that is true. But there are virus types, you can have in your body, that can rebuild RNA to DNA, which was never testet in the clinical trials.

Once the lie is in print, it doesn’t matter how many “corrections” are put forth afterwards because the majority don’t (or won’t) dig deeper than the headlines, especially if the lie reinforces their political stance!

The fact our own government doesn't shut down big tech COMPLETELY until they stop censoring Americans says our government is not protecting our constitution! This is very basic and very scary!

We don't need software, we can develop an alternative just FINE without facebooks code. Talk about missing the fucking point.

When Ethan talked about the BS he spouted he misunderstood something. What we do in a capitalistic society is different from a society that allows vulture capitalism which is inherently the opposite of capitalism. What they are doing should be illegal and if the push further it is. These men should be dragged out in the streets and shot.
