Residents were evacuated from their homes after a huge blaze erupted on marshland on the Wirral on Saturday.
The fire, which was thought to have been started deliberately, threatened wildlife at Parkgate, around six miles from Liverpool city centre.
It broke out at around 6.20pm on Saturday but had been extinguished by Sunday morning.
The fire area is of special scientific interest and a reserve cared for by bird charity RSPB.
