Ukrainian troops clear paths as they retake occupied territory north of Kyiv

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that as Russian forces pull back from Ukraine’s capital region, a potentially catastrophic situation for civilians is being created by mines being left around homes, abandoned equipment and even the bodies of those killed.

As they moved through the towns north of Kyiv, soldiers cleared barricades and inspected suspicious objects.
