You are one of the few YouTubers who actually understands the Jedi philosophy and accurately captures what George Lucas envisioned for Star Wars. Sad to see so many continue to misunderstand and hate the Jedi.

I really liked the idea that they shouldn't always be intervening all the time, certain countries on this planet should learn that lesson.

Dude, I had to pause just to comment, THAT is my favorite scene in The Last Jedi! Not only is Luke imparting wisdom while being a little cheeky (in a way that Mark Hamill performed BEAUTIFULLY) & then teases / compliments Rey with "You ran so fast!" XD XD XD

Couldn’t agree more. Most of the misconceptions about the Jedi come from people thinking that the prequel era Jedi are what Jedi should be.

Love these videos. Ok so;
The argument at 4:00 is basically that the Jedi should help people help themselves. However, you cannot do that actively, because you get involved and there will be expectations you'll never be able to uphold.
Jedi ought to be leading by example if anything and only be concerned about rogue force users such as dark Jedi or Sith. This leaves the Jedi directly out of most of the trouble and miseries of the world outside their monk-ish organisation.

However, I'd like to argue the Sith got it right and the Jedi wrong. Jedi philosophy, however you put it, will always enable the opportunists. The Sith, being arguably the most powerful opportunists are also actively and most honestly practicing the Force which in essence is a deadly superpower and realistically very hard to not use for own personal benefit.

Sith even went through a proper evolution in the lore. From a Brotherhood to a rule of Two, which limits the users but makes the two very strong. The Jedi spread their teachings to any force user and you cannot persuade everyone, especially if you insist on teaching every Force sensitive you deem suitable, to follow the rules with such power literary at their fingertips. You enable dark Jedi and Sith rather than having honest dark Jedi and Sith to sort themselves out.

TL:DR The Force is too dangerous. Sith/Dark Jedi are right, honest and promote self culling. Jedi are wrong and enables societal rot and create dark Jedi and Sith.

So………. According to Disney SW we've learned that the "Jedi way" means that :

#1: You can achieve difficult goals with little or no preparation.

#2: There is nothing you can learn from men who have more experience and wisdom than you do.

#3: It is okay to drink breast milk from a "female" without their consent or permission.

#4: The only way we can win is not fighting what we hate but saving what we love ?!? 🙄…..😳

#5: The force is female ?!? 🤔….🙄…. 😳

Jedi are allowed to love its natural but when the time comes they must let go. I even think George Lucas said that Jedi are allowed to love but shouldn’t try to possess it on a TCW commentery to Dave Filoni

Star Wars has changed my life. Ever since my introduction to A New Hope I've been a fan, though back then my worldview was much narrower. I used to think the Jedi way is the way to go, the whole "selfless mind" thing. However, after playing Kinghts of The Old Republic 2 not as a kid, I realized a lot of things, not only about Star Wars but about my life too. Thankfully to Kreia (and the writers, of course), I realized that it isn't about being "pure" or "evil", it's about yourself and you being right. Why adhere to one side when you can be a part of both and not succumb to them at the same time? At least one thing Kreia was right about was that the choice should always be yours, even if it is a wrong one.

Why did the Jedi fail and fall? Because George wrote it that way. To my way of thinking, George Lucas is evil! 😂

Your videos are never too long. If you have something to say (especially on these Sunday videos) say it! Maybe you could put it to a vote. I like that your videos are always tight & concise, but (even once a week ) I would enjoy a jumbo episode.

Thor, I love it when you apply Jedi teachings to real life. You make alot of Sence. And give a man a fish, feed him for a day, but teach a man to fish and feed him for a life time, is also one of my favorite quotes. Thanks for the great video! Keep up the great work man!

Lucas Jedi could have wives and children. The Jedi of the prequel area are not meant to be the idea Jedi. Luke Skywalker is he clearly has love and attachment. As long as it is in line with the will of the force a path will be found.

I love that you touched on the growth of cancel culture and how important it is to just let go because your "help" or "guidance" may be unwanted, unneeded, or worse–harmful. People can handle themselves and the main point is honorable but the harsh crushing pressure isn't going to fix it any more than the alternatives.

I think the biggest takeaway of all this (for me) is that real danger comes when we compromise morality to accomplish our goals, as you touched on. This is especially applicable when it comes to how we interact with others. Does the end always justify the means? No, I don’t think so. Are we being selfish? Is there too much fear? We can have as much of the “greater good” in mind as we want, but once we compromise the good we believe in along the way, we lose credibility and trust.

Again, maybe a whole lotta nothing here, but good video Thor!

Remember that Rebels episode, Vision of Hope. When Ezra have a vision that the Senator is an ally to the rebellion and a friend to Ezra's parents. So he and ghost crew tries to helps the Senator. It reveal the Senator is agent for the Empire, saying Ezra's parents are fools rebelled against the Empire, and losing their lives. After that Kanan explains to Ezra that his vision was misinterpreted because it was clouded by Ezra's emotions, vision was warning of the Senator's trap. That is honestly a great twist how most Force Visions based on emotions and can be unpredictable. That episode should be talk about more often.

I am still baffled that Rian Johnson removed arguably the genuinely best and most valuable scene in The Last Jedi. That third lesson for Rey could have saved a lot of damage brought on by that divisive film.
It is also ridiculous to setup three lessons and cut the third lesson That is not the right way to "subvert expectations." 🤦

This is definitely backed up even by what Luke said in Mandalorian. "Talent without training is nothing" It even goes back to his own experiences; that he may have felt the Force when he fough Vader but because he didn't know how to control it, he lost the fight. Similarly, a person may have talent or the will to do something positive but unless they are taught how to do it, they will more than likely fail.

So true. People act like the Jedi and the Sith are two sides of the same coin but let’s look at it like this. If someone is fully consumed by the dark side, they’re likely to slaughter a whole room full of innocent children, slaughter a whole village of people, stand idly by while an entire planet is being destroyed, whereas being fully consumed by the light or becoming a true jedi? You’re a full on pacifist, living as a hermit on a swamp planet, or selflessly dedicating your life, abandoning your own desires to watching over a child like a guardian angel. Two completely different paths. So there’s definitely a false equivalence there between going fully to the light and the dark

One of the weaknesses of the prequels is that they didn't really establish in the movies why The Jedi fell. It should have been an emotional through line, a major part of the story, yet it is just hinted out. Still the genius of the movies is that they lay down threads that are interesting to discuss.

Thor neatly sums up the major difference between Conservative and Liberal politics, while also managing to avoid telegraphing his own preference (although I believe I can guess this, based on past videos), and ultimately seems to conclude that the best approach is somewhere in between…Balanced, you might say. Politicians and their constituents both can indeed learn a lot here, I would say.

This is why you are the only Star Wars channel I am subscribed to. We are the same in age where we were fortunate enough to see the originals in the theatres and grow up on SW so I can deeply relate with where you are coming from. It is exactly how I feel about the Jedi, and where we are at now as a society. Thank you for articulating. Be kind to people, it is simple as that and you will be a modern day jedi.

Conflict
It is conflict that improves the lot of civilization and single being, both.
Conflict forces one, to better oneself, it forces change, growth adaptation, Evolution or death.
These are not our laws but the universes, without conflict, you have only stagnation.

Fantastic video, but i think i disagree with your point that the jedi of the prequel era did not deny their emotions. I think the prequel jedi fell in part because they denied/ignored their emotions. Yoda tells anakin in ep3 to ignore his attachments, which if you practice enough at ignoring your emotions then it can be a way to distance oneself from the dark side, but it can be unhealthy because people have emotions. I feel that luke is one of the few jedi to realize that the correct way to live ones life is to accept your emotions, and simply train yourself to not let them overcome you instead of ignoring them altogether. While anakin fell to the dark side because of his attachment to padme, he was turned back to the light because of his attachment to luke (so luke realizes that attachment isnt a bad thing that one should ignore, unlike prequel era jedi). I think luke’s approach to being a jedi (training oneself to not let their emotions rule their actions) is what all people should try to do in real life, since anyone who has ever had anxiety knows that bottling up ones emotions and ignoring them is an unhealthy way to live. This is one of the million reasons i love star wars, it says so much about how we should live our lives irl – in balance and in the light.

I also found the New Jedi Order a far more superior order under Luke in the EU.
But what I see of the Jedi in the High Republic era so far doesn't sit too well with me. Now yes I know the EU very well, but Jedi having sex, crying, being bond by their emotions, then having Yoda come in a mess everything up. Thus helping kill the Jedi, I just….. I just don't like it, I think it's foolish to be changing this much about the Jedi. It just makes the Jedi and out heroes Failures in every way.
