I'm hoping we get to see a post credit scene of Torres in a green falcon suit made using the broken wings in the next and final episode

The mid credit scene tho, it reminded me of iron man but in a very dark way, and I love it.

Seeing Sam's nephews play with the sheild was a great callback to when the boys played in the street at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger and Walker building his own shield FROM A BOX OF SCRAPS is a nice call back to Iron Man.

Really struggling with this now. It's getting dumber and dumber. The writers really think STEVE ROGERS shield is a white imperialist symbol? I have to stress that it's not the message that I have a problem with. It's how poorly written it is.

I am loving the hell out of this show I find the character development completely in trawling, along with seeing how good an actor Sebastian Stan is I think I really could get on board with him as a Luke Skywalker.

The bad guy in this series is “The shield”. Consider the symbolism of 3 different men fighting over a “bloody symbol”. The legacy of that shield IS COMPLICATED like Sam said.

They’re fighting over a symbol of a bygone era. Just look at the council who sentenced John Walker in this episode. John was essentially just a figurehead for the America’s decision makers. They couldn’t give two craps about John Walker, only that he’s a tool to accomplish their political goals.

He gave everything to them, fought and bled in multiple tours overseas, for a cause that was likely wrong.

“People have agendas, and agendas change”

Sam is trying to rectify the bad history represented by that shield. Give people reason to believe in it again. As a black man, I really appreciated the realness that came from Isaiah Bradley. Sam needed to have his eyes opened, to see the legacy of that shield he’s chasing. What Sam is saying is that shield means something to him, and he wants to give other black people a reason to believe in that shield, even though they haven’t had a reason before.

Did you notice how Sam told Bucky not to run from his past, but give the people in that book the closure they need. Sam is going to do the same thing, by rectifying the wrong that was done to Isaiah and his soldiers. By exposing the past, and convincing Isaiah to come out and tell his story.

I love the deep undertones in this series.

I'm not really a fan of how they're turning John into a crazy dude whose first response when pushed is to murder people. I can understand John wanting to kill the Flag Smashers after they murdered Lamar, it was a spur of the moment decision fueled by his love of his best friend. But him trying to murder Sam and Bucky during their fight was a step too far. Obviously there was a lot of pent up frustration that came out during their battle, but it seems like John just cannot handle the pressure that comes with being a hero. If he cracks this easily then they will need to do a lot of work to fix/develop his character once he becomes the US Agent, because as it stands he seems way too unstable to do any kind of hero work, even if he is more of an anti-hero character.

I know that it doesn't make sense that Sam is poor right now, but he was an international criminal for years, which isn't great for your 401k. Even now, it makes sense he might not be being paid well since the world is in obvious financial distress.

I still think is strains credulity, but there is a loose explanation at least.

I gotta say, Congrats to Disney on finding a way to make Karli even more unlikable than Holdo. Seriously Karli is the most unlikeable person i’ve ever seen in media. The scenes she’s in ruin the entire show

Haven’t watched an episode of this show. Don’t want to. But I like Thor so I gave this video a watch, a like, & a comment. If what I say doesn’t match with the show at all, it’s cuz it’s solely based off this video and no other knowledge. The first 3 episodes of W/V was the last marvel I saw.

The idea of the show digging into the conflict of Sam taking up the shield of Capt America is a great one. So much can be done with that. That is the sort of thing that comic books are good for—helping dissect real world concepts in a muted way that is relatively free of consequence. What does it mean for a black person to take up the image and represent “American ideals,” in general, whatever that means. Super interesting.

But the idea of the flag-smashers sounds utterly ridiculous. Yes, it’s a fictional universe but no one writes that stuff without their perspectives on the world and nature of humanity NOT coming through. Like humans are naturally good according to the writers, I guess. And given the opportunity under heaps of stress, societies will just naturally become inexplicably altruistic like they never have before? No, societies come together when someone starts ruling them. It’s never happened any other way. Using communities hit by natural disasters as an example of people coming together to support one another as evidence that the ideas of the flag-smashers is even remotely plausible misses the facts that those are generally small, homogenous communities—not an entire broken society, let along an entire, broken world.
The fact that they even brought it up to play around with the idea in this show smacks of flower child-levels of head-in-the-clouds ignorance and naivety, and would rip me right out of the story and the world-building thinking “This is no longer a believable world.”

Just because some think those 5 years were better, doesn't mean they "agree with Thanos' methods". The indiscriminate killing of half the population can never be justified. Regarding Walker, you said they "discarded him just because it was convenient". They discarded him because he murdered someone, and not the one who committed the crime he was executed for. Stripped of his rank and position is the minimum. Walker should be in jail.
Edit: typo

Maybe Thanos was right, maybe the Avengers were right in reversing that and snapping him. And even though Marvel is creating the story, their message seems to be, "We don't know who's right either. But let's have the 2 sides fight, and whoever wins…is right"

Comic book readers should have a better understanding of how comics reflect the larger, more symbolic, stories of society. We've been exposed to these topics while hiding and reading comics. If there ever was a demographic exposed to the dark truths of society, it's us.

Right now the USA is becoming a tower of babel. The idea that you can find something every can rally around is getting harder and harder. The story of the first black captain america is undercut by the fact that blacks in ww2 were mostly kept out of combat. Secondly the government and large corporations experimented on everyone. The story seems contrived to fit an agenda. The government would've had no problem finding volunteers of high quality to test the serum with. People were being sent to certain or near certain death everyday during that period and we're doing this willingly. They saw it as thier duty. If you just want to give people a reason to chew on thier grievances that's OK but its a very bitter taste. What did Miyagi saybin Karate Kid, for a person with no forgiveness in heart living is worse than death.

Great Video! My comment is just that I wish the show bad better writing. If the show would have focused more on the main two characters relationship instead making a typical marvel movie but 6 hours instead of 2. Flags smashers doesn’t make sense. The post snap world was desolate in End Game but the show wants the viewer to almost believe it was better.

Politics aside, I'm enjoying this series. In my opinion, anyone here can disagree with me, it's handling hard topics much better than other movies or series, Star Wars the worst of them, that make clearly politics decisions, pretend they are not, and blame fans for not liking really bad wrote stuff, just to include such politics. This series is slow paced, witch like a lot, and I'm enjoying every episode so far.

Loved it. The writers have done a good job of weaving in the comic book story lines given the MCU universe they are having to work with. The action has been great and the character arcs have been good. The only weak link I have seen is Sharon Carter. I am not really seeing her role as power broker. If you think about it, Steve Rogers may have been her uncle growing up? Maybe?

Karli is literally the worst antagonist i’ve ever seen in media. Every single scene she is in, the show forces you to like her. There is no natural moments with her what so ever. Nothing she does feels real, authentic, natural, or likable. I genuinely despise her character, and that’s saying something bc i never felt genuine spite towards someone like Holdo who people claim is the worst character in all of Disney. Also the words that come out of her mouth genuinely make me think she has brain damage. Like who tf thinks captain america was the sole person who is ruining everyone lives? Steve literally was the one example of good when the world got as dark as it was. Karli just physically doesn’t grasp the concept of captain america properly, and that’s what her whole personality is based on. I’m keeping my fingers crossed Walker bashes in Karlis face like he did to that other super soldier. It’s the only way her character can be saved, you need to murder her. She just can’t go on, she has no likable traits. I really hope Walker making a new shield is for that reason exactly, especially bc he lied to Lemars parents saying he killed his murderer, so hopefully he makes good on that promise. Best ending it could hope for

Once I heard the words “Zemo” and “Raft” in the same sentence, I realized very very quickly that this is not where Zemo or anyone is going to spend a great deal of time and it’s only a matter of time before Electro (or any villain with electricity powers) to take down the Raft and set the villains of the world free and maybe set up the Dark Avengers under Thunderbolt Ross. Or we could see the X-Men arrive following a reverse Old Man Logan story. Maybe after the villains are freed, the world falls into disarray or the heroes are broken and mostly defeated until the Mutants arrive to help shift the war back in favour of the heroes

No.

The whole point of the climax in Endgame was that Thanos, for all his bluster and posturing and godlike charisma, was wrong .

His solution sent the universe into despair, chaos. And when confronted with the heroes rejecting his ultimatum, Thanos’s response was “well I guess I’ll kill everyone, because you’re just so ungrateful.”

Thanos was a villain. End of story.

You are correct; the message of this show has been America bad from the jump. To make this point they have ignored 3 movies that intentionally divorced Cap from America and rather focused on Cap representing a set of ideals not unique to America. It’s maddening how much of what was established in the movies is being disregarded.

At this point I’m in it for the performances. If nothing else this show is generally well acted. Wyatt Russell has turned up to 11 the last two episodes. He really has impressed me. I really hope there will be some more Val in the final episode. She was the best thing about this last one.

I’d like to point out that this series is using these real-world issues perfectly, not manufacturing them (aka Disney Star Wars not understanding the difference will probably lift a lot of this story in a way that won’t make sense for that Lando series that’s definitely happening).
