I’m all for Brexit and tradition but imperial measurements is taking it to far and out of touch with the real world which trust me is not Europe.

In a free market a customer and a vendor should be allowed to communicate their supplies or requirements in what ever measure that they communicate best for those to (or more) individuals involved in those transactions.

This could be KG..LBS stone, barrels, crates cubic feet, cubic meters or what ever they can communicate best for the said product or service do long as the said measure is not demeaning or offensive.

That way there is less misselling, more open and transparent market right from the high street shop to the super store chains.

That is a key essence of a free market.

I'm a fanatical Patriot but I don't agree. Metric is more exact, accurate and logical. We can and must adapt and metric is simply the adaption we must take.

One of the things I disagreed with EU was the wiring of plugs. It was always obvious to anyone with a Brain that red is for danger(live), earth is brown (as it is ) and green neutral. It was common sense but of course the EU couldn’t possibly see this!

At last people are pushing back. We’ve been bullied and coerced for far too long. Time to stand up for our British way of life as we knew it. 👏👍

I don't mind which system we use, all I want is consistency. Only metric is taught in schools, and yet all road signs are in miles, most people measure their height in feet and weigh themselves in stone. We have this mishmash of both right now.

Excellent move! And let's have GMT back too, instead of this UTC rubbish! But I'm surprised it was actually illegal to sell good in Imperial measure, because I've been asking for my sweet chili sausages from my local Asda butchery department in pounds weight all along, in fact the only thing I've HAD to get in SI units is petrol.

We should go back to how we used to do things I grow up before all this and I found it difficult to get to hip with things like like this idea and it will be great for the children

Is it saying that we're reverting back to Imperial measures on everything? Or is it just that Imperial measurements can be shown along with metric? I still travel at miles per hour. My height is in feet and inches. I weigh in stones and pounds. You still have a pint at the pub,. Whats the f**king fuss about. Imagine going back to pounds, shillings and pence. I cant wait. Imaging receiving change that would include crowns, florins, shillings, sixpences, threepenny-bits, pennies, halfpennies and floarthings.

What to do about the inch though?

Literally no-one uses the UK inch anymore, it's a historical relic, and TBH since WW2 barely anyone in the UK has used it, as all our measuring devices had changed to the engineering inch/international inch/johansen inch.

Foreigners are just jealous of us because they know that we are a collective of the greatest people that have ever existed on earth and that they will never match us. I have always used Imperial measurements and always will. Bring back the gallon, mile, yard, ounce, pound etc. Things sold in jars should go back to the two sizes we used to have, one pound or half a pound nett weight. Eggs are small, standard or large, you get the picture.

People who never dealt in physical stuff won't understand the benefit of how 12s and 16s divide up into 1/2s 1/3s 1/4s etc….and us oldies remember when an 1/8th weighed a penny and a 1/16th weighed a halfpenny 😉

Only someone who is a scientific ignoramus wouldn't want to see imperial measurements disappear forever. It's a bit like the introduction of Arabic numerals to medieval Europe. Just try working with the Roman numerals that they replaced!

Often others do things a lot better than the British. Being grown up is about accepting this and adopting better practices.

It's fine with me as I'm from the USA and am more accustomed to using imperial but it should be optional not everyone is familiar with it.
